VOICE & SWALLOWING

There are many possible reasons one may have a hoarse voice or trouble swallowing. This could be due to inflammation (like from allergies or reflux), infection, or a structural problem with the voice box. As ENT doctors, we perform a special type of examination in the office to take a closer look at the voice box (called a laryngoscopy). Once we know what's causing these symptoms, we can discuss management options. Often, rest and hydration are all that is necessary, but sometimes we need to treat with medications or even consider surgery to fix the problem.
